Rwanda Honoured with Best Tourism Infrastructure Prize at the 2025 Africa Tourism Awards

Rwanda has been awarded the Best Tourism Infrastructure Award at the 2025 Africa Tourism Awards held at the Hilton Canary Wharf in London, recognizing the country’s transformation into one of Africa’s top tourism destinations. The honor reflects Rwanda’s decade-long commitment to developing world-class hotels, modern conference venues, and eco-friendly resorts through consistent policies, strong public-private partnerships, and a focus on sustainability.

From Kigali’s modern skyline to luxury lodges near Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda’s tourism landscape showcases innovation and environmental responsibility. Landmark projects such as the Kigali Convention Centre and Bugesera International Airport have positioned Rwanda as a hub for both leisure and business tourism. According to the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), the sector contributes over 10% of GDP and provides thousands of jobs, driven by a model that integrates conservation with community benefits.

The award highlights Rwanda’s success in aligning infrastructure quality with sustainable growth, setting a new benchmark for tourism development in Africa. Through its high-value, low-volume tourism strategy, Rwanda demonstrates how good governance, safety, and service excellence can elevate a small, landlocked nation into a continental leader in tourism infrastructure and investor confidence.
