John Legend Headlines Move Afrika’s Return to Kigali

Move Afrika returned to Kigali’s BK Arena for a sold-out night of music and social impact, headlined and hosted by John Legend in his first-ever performance in Rwanda. The concert blended global star power with African creativity, featuring standout performances by Rwandan artists Bwiza and DJ TOXXYK, and showcasing fashion and stage designs by local designers and artisans.

This year’s event placed a stronger focus on local participation and youth empowerment, with 90% of the production crew drawn from Rwanda – up from 75% in 2023 – through partnerships with Done and Dusted, the Rwanda Events Group, and the Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator, which trained 50 young people in live-event production. All performers, including Legend, volunteered their time, reflecting the initiative’s mission to elevate African talent and creative industries. Legend further celebrated Rwandan culture by wearing custom pieces from Kigali-based fashion brands Moshions and Tanga.
