Tour du Rwanda 2022

The 14th edition of Tour du Rwanda was flagged off on Sunday 20 February amidst heavy rain and it didn’t stop until the last man. This is the first edition of the Tour du Rwanda 2.1 category since Rwanda was announced the hosts of the 2025 World Cycling Championship.

The President of the Rwanda Cycling Federation, Abdallah Murenzi said this tour and subsequent editions of Tour du Rwanda will help the country and the riders to better prepare for the World Championships.

“The last two years have been difficult for the riders because on the pandemic and travel restrictions, ”Murenzi said, adding, “but this year is better with fewer restrictions and teams increasing. Last year we had 15 teams and now they are 19. We hope this tour and following editions will help us to better prepare for the 2025 World Championships.”
