Kigali Airport Shuttle to support cleaner mobility
Kigali International Airport is set to gain a new shared shuttle service linking the airport with selected hotels, adding a cleaner and more affordable transport option for travellers.
The service will be managed by EcoFleet Solutions, a state-owned transport company involved in the modernisation of public transport in Rwanda, starting with Kigali. The company owns and operates the city’s public bus fleet and works on service standards, operational agreements and wider transport planning.
Shared rides and electric vehicles
The airport shuttle will use environmentally friendly electric vehicles. It will operate on a shared-ride model, carrying multiple passengers per trip and offering reduced fares compared with conventional airport taxis.
EcoFleet says the service aims to improve convenience for travellers while reducing reliance on private transport. Existing public transport routes will continue to serve passengers who are not travelling between hotels and the airport.
“The broader goal is to encourage Rwandans and visitors to increasingly depend on public transport systems, while also supporting the country’s transition towards cleaner and more sustainable mobility solutions,” said Aldo Havugimana, Brand and Communication Manager at EcoFleet.
A practical step in urban mobility
Once operational, the shuttle is expected to complement current transport options, ease congestion around Kigali International Airport and support Rwanda’s shift toward greener mobility.
For visitors, the first ride into Kigali may soon begin with a quieter engine and a clearer public transport choice.
