Rwanda strengthens its position as a premier travel destination at ITB Berlin 2025

Rwanda has wrapped up a highly successful showcase at ITB Berlin 2025, the world’s premier travel trade show, held from March 4–6. With over 160 participating countries and 5,800 tour operators in attendance, the event provided an unparalleled platform for Visit Rwanda to spotlight its world-class tourism experiences and reinforce its reputation as a top-tier global destination.

Spearheaded by the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) in partnership with the Rwandan Embassy in Germany, the country’s delegation included 12 leading tour operators and RwandAir. Their presence demonstrated Rwanda’s unwavering commitment to expanding its tourism footprint and unlocking new business opportunities on the global stage.

Adding to the country’s strong presence, RwandAir played a pivotal role in promoting its growing network of routes and premium services, further enhancing Rwanda’s accessibility to international travelers.

Speaking on the final day of ITB Berlin, Hubertus Jung, Sales Manager at RwandAir, shared his enthusiasm for the exhibition’s success: “We connected with numerous new clients and partners at the RwandAir ITB counters. This has been one of our most rewarding ITB experiences yet,” he said, hinting at the airline’s exciting plans to launch a new route to Frankfurt.

Similarly, Manzi Isibo, Reservations Manager at Wilderness Rwanda, underscored the value of Rwanda’s participation at ITB Berlin 2025: “This event has been instrumental in securing key partnerships and deals, all aimed at elevating Rwanda’s profile as a world-class travel destination,” he remarked.

Among the distinguished visitors to Rwanda’s stand was Germany’s Federal Minister for Digitalization and Infrastructure, Dr. Volker Wissing, who lauded the country’s impressive presentation: “The Rwanda stand is exceptional, presenting the country in the best light. I highly recommend discovering Rwanda—a breathtaking destination with warm hospitality and stunning natural beauty,” he told. Having personally visited Rwanda multiple times, Dr. Wissing emphasized the country’s strong infrastructure and rapid economic growth as key factors bolstering its appeal to global travelers.

With its mesmerizing landscapes, one-of-a-kind wildlife experiences, and rich cultural heritage, Rwanda continues to captivate the world’s attention. Its outstanding presence at ITB Berlin 2025 solidifies the nation’s standing as a must-visit destination and sets the stage for even greater growth in its thriving tourism sector.

The country’s unique wildlife, particularly the mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park, serves as a significant draw for international visitors. Rwanda is one of the few places where tourists can safely experience these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.

Germany is identified as one of Rwanda’s major export markets, indicating established economic ties between the two nations. This relationship suggests potential for growth in tourism exchanges.

Rwanda’s active participation in international tourism events, such as ITB Berlin 2025, underscores its commitment to attracting more visitors from Germany and beyond. These efforts aim to showcase Rwanda’s diverse attractions and strengthen its global tourism profile.
